Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actress. She was nominated for the Academy Award nomination for her performance as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also famous for her performance as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica which was the president's wife on Independence Day and for her main role in Donnie Darko, as the main persona's mother.
