Her initial inspiration was the shadows that were cast onto grass. After a few weeks, she developed a method that didn't make the subject on the canvas as a flat image. More like the object has been transformed into its own reproduction with the canvas taking its interpretation from the artist. This is especially effective when working with living things as well as items that have a shelf life like people or fruits. Alexa's painting style is ephemeral, and all left of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. Both photographic and painting techniques are so tightly coordinated that the end result is nothing but a two-dimensional flat space which is able to achieve trompe l'oeil. The third dimension is discernible only in certain areas, such as near the eyes, or near hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3-dimensional space around the models. Their interaction as well as the world they created can be achieved. This eliminates the distinctions between painting, photography and installation.
